I've teamed up with Be A Maker School to bring you a virtual leather shop classroom where I teach the foundational knowledge and skills I use to tool my unique 'wildflower western' style.
By the end of the course, students will have a toolbox full of crucial skills that will act as a foundation for years of leather projects to come. In this skills-based course students will learn how to:
-
Identify different types of leather and choose the right piece for their project
-
Properly cut out and prepare leather for tooling
-
Start designing original floral patterns and transfer designs to leather
-
Use the specialized swivel knife and other crucial hand tools
-
Tool a floral pattern using a simple step-by-step method
-
Use each stamp correctly and understand it's specific purpose
-
Add a unique signature to tooled pieces with decorative cuts and detail tooling
-
Confidently use paint, antique and dye to make the work a true piece of functional art
